Welcome to Nazareth Church!
Nazareth is a part of the Presbyterian Church (USA), the largest Presbyterian Denomination in the country. We are members of the Foothills Presbytery, which consists of Anderson, Oconee, Pickens, Greenville, Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties. We seek to serve the Lord in every way that we can as a local church and on a Presbytery and national level.
When we gather as Nazareth church, we continue the 250-year history of worship on this land, begun by Scots Presbyterians in 1765. Our sanctuary, built in 1832, is the oldest continuous-use public facility in Spartanburg County. Proud of this legacy, we want to serve God and share God’s gracious goodness today and into the future.
We invite you to come visit us, worship with us and take part in our mission here as we seek to glorify God and make disciples for Christ.
Keep up with what’s happening each week at Nazareth by checking the Wonderful Wednesday Words and the Thursday Latest News update each week.

Nazareth has an active Youth Ministry for teens in 6th-12th grades. Youth groups
grow together when they worship, learn, serve, and play together. That happens
every Sunday evening at youth group. It also happens — and in a powerful way! —
on youth trips. Our well-chaperoned trips are not only tons of fun, but provide
great opportunities for growth and service. Young people come home changed,
inspired, and inspiring.
How do we make disciples for Christ? Through our strong Christian Education
program. We have something for everyone! We offer Sunday School classes for
children, youth and adults and a nursery is provided.
We also offer short-term Bible study throughout the year, have our very popular multi-generational VBS each summer and do lots of other fun activities and events that allow us to learn and grow together!
Nazareth participates in a wide variety of local and national mission activities. We invite YOU to join us as we serve others in our community.

Many folks are interested in the history of Nazareth Presbyterian Church. Established in 1765 and organized in 1772, Nazareth is one of South Carolina’s most historic churches. Nazareth is often
called the “mother of churches” because 10 other churches have been established from the membership of the congregation.
Many people inquire about the historical cemetery at Nazareth and often come to visit when doing family genealogy. A listing of those buried in the cemetery is in the historical room at the Church. We hope to provide the information online in the near future. Below are a few images from the cemetery. Soldiers from the Revolutionary War and almost every other war are buried in the cemetery.
